2011 Ford Picard Christmas Classic
The 18th
playing of the Ford Picard Christmas Classic finished today with two new
champions being crowned. Bryce Howell put together a one bogey round of 73 to
win the overall boys title on a day that tested every level of player. Cool and
misty conditions marked a significant difference from yesterday's chamber of
commerce weather making scoring very difficult. Mary Chandler Bryan was playing
with the defending champion, Kelli Murphy and both were pretty close all day. A
chip in birdie on her last hole of the day gave the Chapin native a round of 76
and the girls Championship. Daniel Island's Clara Park won the girl's 13 and
under bracket after a one hole playoff victory over Sarah Kennedy. Greenville
native Evan White captured the younger boys by the slimmest of margins as he
squeaked by Davis Yearout with a 44 nine hole total.
