IRMO, SC (July 8, 2026) – The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation (SCJGF) is proud to announce that it has now awarded more than $1.3 million in academic scholarships to 208 students pursuing higher education at colleges and universities across South Carolina. Since its inception in 1995, the SCJGF Scholarship Program has helped high school seniors and current college students achieve their academic and career goals.

 

The Foundation also supports upperclassmen enrolled in Coastal Carolina University's Professional Golf Management Program through the Brian Bosco Scholarship, funded by an endowment, a golf tournament, and individual contributions. The 2026-27 recipients are Bryce Garthee and Madison Rizzo.

 

The Dick and Lucille Hendley Blade Scholarships continue to support participants of The Blade Junior Classic and The First Tee of the Upstate. For the 2026–27 academic year, Hendley Scholarships were awarded to Ava Romansky of Roebuck, attending Anderson University; Matthew Roff of Spartanburg, attending Clemson University; Lauren Flynn of Chesnee, attending Spartanburg Methodist College; and William Allender of Taylors, attending Clemson University.

 

In honor of SC Golf Hall of Famer Jackie Seawell, who passed in 2021, the SCJGF continues to present the Jackie Seawell Scholarship. The 2026–27 recipient is Gavin Hutchinson of Myrtle Beach, attending Coastal Carolina University.

 

The Rick Vieth Scholarship, created in 2024 to honor longtime SCGA and SCJGF board leader Rick Vieth who passed away in 2025, is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates strong character and service to others. The 2026–27 Rick Vieth Scholarship recipient is Ansley Cassels of Richburg, attending Clemson University.

 

The Terry Florence Scholarship continues to recognize exceptional student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, community service, and golf. The 2026–27 recipients are Ella Kate Barnett of Aynor, attending Anderson University; Brody Bise of Goose Creek, attending the University of South Carolina; and Annabel Carman of Summerville, attending North Greenville University.

 

The SCJGF Scholarship Program also awarded four renewable SCJGF Scholarships in honor of Tom Fazio, Neal Baker, David DuPre, and Bryan Prezioso for the 2026–27 academic year. Recipients include Katherine Gunnells of Belton, attending the University of South Carolina Beaufort; Katelyn Cox of Greer, attending Clemson University; Tyler Rearden of Edgefield, attending the University of South Carolina Aiken; and Caleb Wilbanks of Newberry, attending The Citadel.

 

The SCJGF Scholarship Program is managed in partnership with the Center for Scholarship Administration. Applications are typically open from mid-October through mid-January each academic year.
