From SCJGA standout to PGA Tour champion, Jacob Bridgeman’s rise continues to reach new heights.
The former Clemson star and Inman native captured his first PGA Tour victory Sunday at The Genesis Invitational, to secure a breakthrough win at just 26 years old.
“This is way, way better than I've ever dreamt it,” Bridgeman said. “I always thought I would do it, kind of expected to do it but until it happens I didn't think it was real. I'm really proud.”
Bridgeman shot a final round 1 over 72 in difficult conditions in Pacific Palisades, California, seeing his lead shrink late but managing to close out the biggest moment of his career.
Long before hoisting a trophy on the PGA Tour, Bridgeman’s journey began with the South Carolina Junior Golf Association, where he developed the foundation that would shape his future success.
From 2013 to 2018, Bridgeman was a consistent force on the SCJGA circuit, competing in numerous events and regularly placing himself near the top of the leaderboard.
During his time with the SCJGA, Bridgeman finished first place eight times and recorded six top three finishes. He added five top five finishes, seven top ten finishes and one top fifteen finish, while also competing in ten additional events.
Those junior years proved instrumental in Bridgeman’s development, helping prepare him for a standout career at Clemson and the transition to professional golf. His success has continued to build steadily since earning his PGA Tour card.
As a rookie during the 2024 season, Bridgeman recorded 10 top 25 finishes, then elevated his play last year with four top five finishes, highlighted by a T 2 at the Cognizant Classic and a solo third at the Valspar Championship.
Now in his third full PGA Tour season beginning in 2023 and 24, Bridgeman has made more than 65 career starts and continues to show remarkable consistency.
From his early days competing in SCJGA events to standing atop the leaderboard on one of golf’s biggest stages, Bridgeman has officially checked off one of his biggest career goals and he is just getting started.
