IRMO, SC (SEPTEMBER 15, 2026) – The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation (SCJGF) is proud to announce that it has now awarded more than $1.2 million in academic scholarships to 197 students pursuing higher education at colleges and universities across South Carolina, including $90,000 awarded this year alone. Since its inception in 1995, the SCJGF Scholarship Program has helped high school seniors and current college students achieve their academic and career goals.

Over the years, the Foundation has proudly offered named scholarships that honor the legacy of individuals who made a lasting impact on junior golf in South Carolina. Among them are the Neal Baker, David DuPre, and Bryan Prezioso scholarships, all made possible through the efforts of their family and friends. The 2025–26 DuPre-Prezioso Scholarship was awarded to Lillian Amick of Columbia, attending Clemson University.

Additional scholarships include those named in honor of renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, whose 2025–26 scholarship recipient is Elizabeth Brothers of Spartanburg, attending the University of South Carolina-Columbia, and the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am, a founding partner of the SCJGF. The 2025–26 recipient of this scholarship is Brooke Burgess of Chapin, attending the University of South Carolina-Columbia.

The Foundation also supports upperclassmen enrolled in Coastal Carolina University’s Professional Golf Management Program through the Brian Bosco Scholarship, funded by an endowment, a golf tournament, and individual contributions. The 2025–26 recipients of this scholarship are Brady Fix of Stafford, New York, and Reese Barlow of Butler, Kentucky.

The Dick and Lucille Hendley Blade Scholarships continue to support participants of The Blade Junior Classic, SCJGA Upstate Chapters, or The First Tee of the Upstate. For the 2025–26 academic year, Hendley Scholarships were awarded to Caitlyn Gaines of Southern Wesleyan University, Michael Olsommer of Anderson University, Olivia Shields of USC Upstate, and Jerry Short of Erskine College.

In honor of SC Golf Hall of Famer Jackie Seawell, who passed in 2021, the SCJGF continues to present the Jackie Seawell Scholarship. The 2025–26 recipient is Carson Jordan of Conway, attending Francis Marion University

The Rick Vieth Scholarship, created in 2024 to honor longtime SCGA and SCJGF board leader Rick Vieth, is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates strong character and service to others. The 2025–26 Rick Vieth Scholarship recipient is Nicholas Abrams of Columbia, attending Wofford College.

The SCJGF Scholarship Program is managed in partnership with the Center for Scholarship Administration. Applications are typically open from mid-October through mid-January each academic year.
