2009  SCJGA/CPGA Pro - Junior

Columbia – With twenty three teams chasing for the 2009 title, the team from Spring Valley C.C. won the SCPGA-SCJGA Pro-Junior with a score of 58. They were tied after regulation play with the Greenwood Country Club representatives. After two holes of sudden death, William Harwood rammed home the birdie putt to capture the victory. Mike Birdsell’s squad also had David White and Benjamin Limbaugh to round out their junior team. This is Spring Valley’s second championship in three years as they also won in 2007 at the Forest Lake Club.

Teams are comprised of PGA Professionals that are members of the South Carolina Chapter of the PGA and three of their junior members. The foursomes had three age brackets represented on their talented teams. Juniors age 15-18, 13-14, and 10-12 partnered with their professional in this 18 hole captain's choice format. Tom Mason, President of the SCPGA, said "This is a day we look forward to as we get to spend the entire day with our future in the game. I think the Professionals have as much fun as the juniors. Although geared to be a fun day of golf, make no mistake, these youngsters are competitive!" Woodlands Country Club was the host for the 15th playing of this championship and the participants were treated to a great course and wonderful conditions all day.
