Hootie & The Blowfish Junior Golf Series

Hootie & The Blowfish have provided a grant to the SCJGA, specific to the Chapter Program. This grant will be dispersed evenly among nineteen chapters and used to hire an intern within each chapter to help in tournament operations.  Without the efforts of Hootie & The Blowfish,  our Chapter Directors and their volunteer's, the "Junior Golf Series" would not exist. We do appreciate all of their efforts in making this program possible. Contact your local chapter director (listed here) about signing up for the chapter in your area.

Based on the past support from the Band and the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, we have renamed the Summer Chapter Program, more appropriately, the Hootie and the Blowfish Junior Golf Series.

"Junior Golf Series" events are conducted beginning the first week in June. Tournaments are played mostly on Mondays at different area golf courses. Members compete in age groups and accumulate All-Star points. The All-Star Championship is held at the end  the season and brings together youth from across the state. Although all skill levels are welcome, the Junior Golf Series is designed to help young players mature and develop tournament experience.

Chapter Details
The SCJGA was built on a foundation of networking community junior golf programs referred to as "Chapters." Chapters give juniors an opportunity to be a part of a fun, weekly tournament schedule designed to develop tournament skills, teach a working knowledge of the Rules of Golf, and build lasting friendships.

Individuals compete in seven age groups from the following tees:

Group Holes Tee
Boys 15-18* 18 Back
Boys 13-14 18 Middle
Boys 10-12 9 Forward
Boys 8-9 9 Special
Girls 14-18* 18 Middle
Girls 11-13 9 Forward
Girls 8-10 9 Special

Chapters vary guidelines based on participation. Some events may designate different age groups.

* Can not reach 19th birthday prior to the
All-Stars or started in college.

IMPORTANT: As a change for 2008, all members of the SCJGA must join at the $10.00 level including the Chapter Players. For years the two different forms of memberships "challenged" our parents for clarification- hence one fee for all. All chapter fees will still apply and we hope this clarification will make it easier on everyone- including our volunteer directors. Chapter Player membership will be verified before starting the summer program. Players planning on participating in the Little Legends do not need to join directly unless they want the benefits.
