Ernst takes Beth Daniel Award
Columbia: LPGA Hall of Fame Member Beth Daniel has an award in her honor that recognizes the top female player for the SCJGA. Austin Ernst of Seneca has won this prestigious award for the 2007 SCJGA season.
The December 1st issue of the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings is the final issue of the year and the top spot at season’s end is the SCJGA Player of the Year. The Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings are based on overall finishes in tournaments across South Carolina and nationwide. Points are compiled from over 100 events conducted over the past twelve months.
Ernst grabbed the lead in August from 2006 award winner, Rachel Uremovich. Thanks to two AJGA victories, Ernst finished a solid year with 1014 points, 52 ahead of her nearest competitor.
Austin is a 2010 graduate, making her eligible for the award a record three times.
Austin Ernst will be honored at a press conference on December 22 at the Country Club of Charleston. The presentation will start promptly at 10:30 am. On hand for the presentation will be LPGA Tour Player Beth Daniel, the Ernst family, representatives from the media, and the SCJGA. All junior golf supporters are welcome to attend.
