2007 Pee Wee Championship

March 10-11, 2007

A chamber of commerce day greeted the 86 players playing their final round in the 2007 PeeWee Championship.  After final a close race at the end, Richard Hubbard captured the overall boys title. The Mt. Pleasant native went one under par on his final five holes to edge out Jackson Moore by 1 shot . The girls division was won by McKenzie Talbert, who added to her SCJGA trophy count with a final nine hole score of one under par 34. Boys and Girls were divided into age specific brackets, 8-9 years old, and 10-12 years old. All age brackets play nine holes each day for an eighteen hole championship. The Lodge course of Greenwood CC has hoisted the tournament since inception nine years ago.

The boys 10-12 action was tight as overnight leader, Richard Hubbard fired a 37 to open the door for his fellow competitors. His solid play and one under total was good enough to claim his first Pee Wee Championship. The comeback of the event goes to Isle of Palms resident Moore as he coupled his opening 38 with a three under 32 and take second overall at even par 70.  The youngest boys bracket was won by Will Strickland with a two day total of 74. The youngest girls bracket has Lauren Stephenson as the 2007 champion. Her two day total of 89 gave her a comfortable lead in the championship.
