March 25, 2007 Graciously hosted by Beech Creek Golf Club T Over 120 hopeful juniors teed it up on Sunday, March 25 in hopes of gaining one of the coveted caddie spots in the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-am, scheduled for April 9. The juniors played to caddie for one of the thirty three teams that consist of celebrity musicians, athletes, actors, and their PGA and Nationwide Tour playing partners. Jacob Burger captured the overall boy honors while a tie between Anne Marie Covar and Carmen Jones highlighted the girls action.
Burger fired a single round of 69 to win by one over Brandon Truesdale . His 37 backed up with a 4 under 32 gave the Orangeburg native the slim margin of victory. Also from Orangeburg, Carmen Jones shot 80 to win the overall Girls 15-18 bracket. Anne Marie Covar matched Jones' feat with an 80 of her own to win the girls 13-14 bracket and tie for the girl's overall. Caleb Sturgeon captured the boys 13-14 bracket with a three over par effort of 75, two better than his nearest competitor. The tournament is proudly hosted by Beech Creek Golf Club in Sumter and is presented by the SC Automobile Dealers Association.
The age groups for the event range for both girls and boys between 13 and 18 and they must still be enrolled in high school.The Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation has given over three million dollars to educational and youth oriented programs in the state of South Carolina.
