The Par Three Challenge is back again for 2005. Two courses in the Columbia area will be used for this fun day of golf. Lake Murray Golf Center and The Golf Center will host the teams on Saturday, May 21. The application is now available. For more information ,contact us at 803-732-9311. Irmo – Teams from all over the state showed up at two midlands par 3 courses to take part in the SCJGA Par "3" Challenge. Lake Murray Golf Center in Chapin and The Golf Center in Blythewood hosted the two tournaments. The format was two person captain’s choice in three age brackets. The event is sponsored by Baxter Stores and Conducted by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. Ford and Leonard Blanchard took the 8 – up bracket with a 18 hole total of seven under 47 while Dalton Ward and Hayden Letien fired an impressive 42, 12 under par, to capture their 8-18 bracket over at the Golf Center. Lake Murray Golf Center had some exciting action as well. Austin Hood and Wells Ballentine took the older 8-18 bracket and was one clear of Ellis Martin and Sarah Herbert. Cody Proveaux and Blake Kennedy showed up to defend their 2004 8-12 crown. After two holes of sudden death, the pair successfully defeated Richard Hubbard and Trey Valentine.
