Vince Hatfield of Greenwood claimed the 5th Annual Blade Junior Classic after posting a final round of 72 over the 6,685 yard layout of the Thornblade Club for a 143 two day total. Aiken native Whitney Simons captured the overall girls division after coupling a six over par effort of 77 with her opening 76 to win by three shots . The event is proudly hosted by the Thornblade Club and is conducted by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association.

Hatfield claimed the victory by three shots over the hard charging Dennis McCollum of Summerville who backed up an opening 75 with an even par 71 to finish at 146. Simons was able to hold on as Ann Maness and Taylor Barrett  both finished the event at 156.The Boys 13-14 had McCuen Elmore on top after he coupled an opening round of 71 with a final round 72 to win by four over Wesley Bryan of Columbia.

The younger age groups played nine holes each day for an eighteen hole total. The competitive boys 10-12 division had Will Ovenden on after posting a two day total of 73 to win by one over Greenville’s Crawford Reeves. The boys 8-9 bracket had Blake Kennedy victorious after his two day total of 82 shots left him six clear of his nearest competitor. The girls 11-13 has Elizabeth Freeman as the 2003 champion after striking back with a 38 to win by seven over Kara Fant of Belton. The little girls age 8-10 has McKenzie Talbert as the victor as she finished the event with a two day total of 88.
