Final Results
Daniel Bowden and Taylor Barrett claimed victory in the 13th Annual SCJGA All Stars tournament. Bowden took the honors in the Boys 15-18 division after a second round 71 had him one shot clear of runner up Allen Koon. Barrett of the York County Chapter also won the girls division by one shot after she fired a 72 to clip Audrey Church of Greenville. The tournament is in the fifth year of being proudly hosted by Santee National Golf Club. The field size and reputation of the event has grown to such a level that Santee Cooper Country Club has joined in the effort and hosted the younger age brackets for the 2003 event.
Christopher Marsh followed up an opening 71 with a 69 to pass Harold Martin to claim the Boys 13 -14 championship. Hayden Latien of Sumter cruised to five shot victory in Boys 10-12 with an eighteen hole total of 73. The Boy 8-9 bracket had Townsend Hamilton as champion after he completed the 10 hole test in 40 shots. The Girls 11-13 played nine holes each day and Elizabeth Freeman came out on top with a two day total of 79. McKenzie Talbert of Aiken continued her winning ways with an eight shot margin of victory in the Girls 8-10. The Chapter team competition had the Piedmont Chapter taking the boys title as Spartanburg claimed their unprecedented 5th championship in the girls category.
The All Stars is the season ending tournament in which players have qualified to represent their chapter for individual and team honors. This SCJGA program has 19 geographical chapters serving 2,200 junior golfers from all over South Carolina. Seven age brackets are compiled of junior boys and girls from age 8-18 playing in weekly tournaments all summer. The top two players from each bracket earn their way into the season ending championship.
