2002 Caddie Classic

Bryan Claims Top Caddie Spot

March 30, 2002

A morning thunderstorm shortened the SCJGA Caddie Classic, but George Bryan IV of Columbia only needed nine holes to take top honors with a three under par 33. Playing in the boys 13-14 division, Bryan was one stroke better than even the top finishers in the boys 15-18 division. At the top in the older boys division, with scores of 34, were Warren Thomas of Columbia, Ryan Infinger of Summerville, and Battle Hartman of Jefferson. The event was presented by Bojangles and Pepsi and proudly hosted by Coopers Creek Golf Club.

In the girls 15-18 division, Whitney Simons lead all competitors with a nine hole total 37. In the younger girls division, Taylor Barrett of York made birdie in a playoff with Emily Rapp, who matched scores of 39.

This years field consisted of 156 male and female juniors ranging in age from 13-18. Top finishers earn the right to caddie for PGA Tour professionals and celebrities in the 8th Annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am. The Pro-Am is set for April 15, 2002 at the Turtle Point Course of the Kiawah Island Resort.
